- Vegetable propagation
The is a form of asexual reproduction that occurs in plants – whereby a new plant emerges from vegetative parts like leaves, stems, and roots and form their root system and grow.
- Sporogenesis
The formation of this species involves spores i.e. seeds. They are similar to seeds in nature – serving as dispersed units.
- Fragmentation
This refers to the parent organism breaking into fragments and each fragment is capable of developing into a new organism such as fungi, yeasts, molds, vascular and vascular plants.
- Parthenogenesis
In this form of fertilization, the offspring do not need the gamete of a male to reproduce – but from a female gamete. The process is called apomictic or automictic.
- Apomixis
This is a unique one – whereby the reproduction process that occurs here does not need fertilization to reproduce.

Consequences of asexual reproduction
Despite some advantages associated with the asexual mode of reproduction, some consequences still await this means affecting the evolution of organisms.
The below are the consequences of the asexual reproductive pattern.
In the asexual, the parent organism reproduces offspring that is a clone of itself.
This could be a huge consequence because, in the long run when generic diversity is considered, it has every tendency to lead to genetic variation.
Another consequence found within the asexual mode of reproduction is that the asexual organism do not go through the process of recombination and segregation during meiosis, and skipping this process could lead to less genetic diversity which could cause a long term evolutionary disadvantage.
In reproduction, the sexual mode has an edge against the female asexual because the asexual passes through the lone parent route along with the same genetic material to the clone.
This causes them to deal with disturbances in the environment which they may not be able to cope with due to the high level of virulent disease – which could cause them to get wiped out by the disease.
Most times, the same organism may be able to resist the capability of the disease taking a hold of them because they may be lacking the genes to make them do so.
